When you can’t go outside, go within

Health is a state of complete harmony of the body & mind ☸

If you are worried about the rising stats of corona pandemic; you’re not alone, we all are on the same boat.

People who are not sufferer of corona virus, they have become sufferer of corona stress. With empty grocery shelves, social distancing and collecting countless rolls of toilet papers, people are becoming more anxious day by day.

What if I will be infected, what if my family members will be infected, how am I going to deal with this disease which doesn’t have any known prophylaxis? The fear of being COVID-19 victim and being in isolation for several days is affecting mental health hugely.

For which, taking preventive measures such as staying home and distancing yourself physically for the time being are absolutely necessary. Likewise, taking care of your mental health and not dwelling in the corona stress all the time is also necessary.

Confusion about this virus and worry regarding when the crisis will end is generating anxiety and fear, this can affect immunity as well.

How does stress affect your body?

As we all know an idle mind is the devil’s playground, being home all the time and stressing over a particular situation invites nothing but some more bothersome circumstances.

When you’re stressed, your body produces stress hormones which can negatively affect your immune system and makes you more vulnerable for the infectious diseases, heart problems, digestive issues, liver & kidney disorders.

Research shows that negative emotions resist your brain from producing some chemicals that can heal your body. Your thoughts and state of mind are reservoir of your overall health status.

When you relax your mind, your brain stops producing stress hormones and that makes you calm physically as well as mentally.

Meditation & stress management

Being in this situation is the ultimate test of ‘Mind over matter‘. If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, Live in the moment. Live in the breathe 🧘🏻‍♀️

Most people think that meditation means just sitting and doing nothing but in reality it is being aware about what is happening right now without wishing it was different. Mindful meditation involves sitting in a comfortable position and focusing on breathing.

Confused? Let me elaborate a little,

Two people are in the same situation, yet one is stressed and overwhelmed and another is so calm & relaxed. How is that possible? The answer is – stress related behavior is less about the environment and more about how we react to it. When you practice mindfulness, it helps your body repair and prevents your body from further damage caused by stress.

When you meditate on a regular basis not only you will be able to manage stress but also,

  • Depression & anxiety will decrease
  • Improves memory, tolerance & self awareness
  • You will be more empathetic
  • Your emotions will be regulated
  • Stress & blood pressure symptoms will decrease
  • Research shows that meditators produce more amount of antibodies than the non meditators
  • Reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus & cancer

Studies show that meditation is a successful stress-management technique. Meditating for at least 30 minutes everyday makes your mind relaxed and tranquil.

It’s always wise to be alert regarding current situation but watching news all the time and discussing about this current situation makes you nothing but panicked and restless.

You can not stop the waves but you can learn to surf.
